Get Involved

  1. Hi Ladies!
I am thinking of providing leadership to make Michigan the next state approved for Medicaid reimbursement for doula services. There are a number of doula program initiatives underway in the state and lots of funding pouring in due to Michigan, and Detroit in particular, having the worst infant mortality rate in the nation. I think the current political environment is ripe for this move. I appreciate everything that you have posted and linked to on this website but am feeling a bit overwhelmed with how to get started on this. I have a handful of key players in the state who have pledged support and I believe that, once I have a specific direction, I will be able to put together a coalition of folks. I also have a student intern with a legal background who is willing to help with get this initiative off the ground. I am wondering if any of the folks who have accomplished this in Oregon or Minnesota, would have time to speak with me and provide some guidance? I am also interested in understanding more about efforts in New York and what was learned from that experience, as I understand the effort has not yet been successful. Just trying to get an idea of what I’m getting into and how to proceed in the most efficient way possible.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

  2. Thanks for all your work in forwarding our doula goal! I’m going to post your post on our list service. I’m hoping someone will reach out to you!!

  3. This is Awesome! I would be happy to connect you and some of the workers from Minnesota and Oregon. I will attend a meeting in New Orleans next weekend and when I return I will give your their contacts.
